A-TRANE PRÄSENTIERT: ANDREAS SCHMIDT& FRIENDS HEUTE MIT: EINTRITT FREI & ENTRANCE FREE Auf dem unteren Link zur Facebookseite von Andreas Schmidt erfahren Sie, wer alles an diesem Konzerttag auftreten wird. Um die Spontanität zu erhalten, was die Montagskonzerte von Andreas Schmidt & Friends ausmacht, werden die Musiker kurzfristig bekannt gegeben, Facebook Andreas Schmidt It´s me, the Monday A-Trane pianist Andreas Schmidt. Since 1995 I played here about 900 wonderful & surprising improvised happenings in music with lots of friends like Jay Clayton, Hayden Chisholm, Dave Douglas, Walter Norris, Mark Murphy, Till Brönner, Sebastian Merk, Andreas Edelmann, Jan Roder, Connie Crothers, Max Andrzejewski, Andy Fite etc.. Here’s what Richard Williams wrote about me in his blog: «If you’re ever at a loose end in Berlin on a Monday night, my advice would be to head for A-Trane, the jazz club in Charlottenburg, where Andreas Schmidt, a pianist, composer and teacher at the city’s Jazz Institut, holds a weekly free-admission session featuring a changing cast. Schmidt is a fine pianist, the salient features of his playing located somewhere between the Paul Bley of the mid-’60s and the Chick Corea of «Now He Sings, Now He Sobs». You might get an idea of his approach if I say that his first album was made (in 1995) with Lee Konitz, and a later one comprised a duo with Gary Peacock. His music is cerebral, but on the evidence I’ve heard it never lacks wit and humanity.» Richard Williams ANDREAS SCHMIDT piano

Mariana Zwarg Quintet «Legacy Of Hermeto Pascoal’s Universal Music» FEAT: Itiberê Zwarg WITH: Mette Nadja-Johannes von Ballestrem-Igor Spalatti-Pierre Chastel A rare musical encounter brings the Mariana Zwarg Quintet together with Itiberê Zwarg, who travels from Brazil to join the group for a special evening at A-Trane Berlin. Father and daughter meet on stage as composers, arrangers, and improvisers, presenting original music written especially for this collaboration and shaped by the shared legacy of Hermeto Pascoal’s Universal Music. The Mariana Zwarg Quintet is one of the most innovative ensembles in today’s jazz scene, presenting a distinctive fusion of jazz and Brazilian instrumental music. Formed in 2022, the group brings together exceptional musicianship and a strong compositional voice. Led by flutist and composer Mariana Zwarg, the quintet’s sound is shaped by sensitivity, precision, and a clear collective identity. The music draws from the rich tradition of Brazilian music, including styles like samba and forró, approached with a contemporary perspective and paired with the freedom of jazz and improvisation. Before forming the quintet, Mariana Zwarg toured internationally with her Sexteto Universal, releasing the acclaimed album Nascentes in 2020 and performing at major festivals and concert halls across Europe and Brazil. This experience informs the quintet’s confident stage presence and focused live communication. The evening at A-Trane unfolds as an intimate yet expansive musical conversation — intergenerational, exploratory, and alive in the moment.
