Born in Argentina and based in Berlin for the past seven years, Olaciregui has made a name for himself on the European jazz scene. Aside from participating in projects such as the World Citizen Band, Tobias Meinhart 5tet, and Diego Piñera 4tet, the guitarist has now brought together a first-class European quintet from the Berlin scene. The compositions of this new Album draw from Ramiro’s personal musical DNA, blending elements of rock, pop, and funk within a modern jazz setting to create a sound that is distinctly his own. The title Polar Surfer reflects on the search for direction while navigating the opposing forces life presents. A Polar Surfer is someone who moves forward even when the surrounding conditions are not aligned with one’s intentions. It emphasizes the resilience required to continue on a chosen path despite misalignment. The concert at A-Trane is a special one for the guitarist presenting his first European release and promises to leave a lasting impression on the audience. About Ramiro Olaciregui Olaciregui obtained his BA Degree from Berklee College of Music, Boston, in 2006. Afterwards he moved to New York City. Both, in Boston and New York, Ramiro collaborated with some of the strongest names in Jazz today, such as Jimmy Heath, Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, George Garzone, Seamus Blake, Matt Penmann, Dave Kikoski, Chris Tordini, Tom Kennedy, & John Escreet. Here he also recorded his Debut Album The Remains. Ramiro resides in Berlin where he obtained his MA in Jazz Arrangement & Composition in 2022 from the Jazz Institute Berlin and is a strong member of the jazz community of this city.
