THE JEREMY LEDBETTER TRIO «GRAVITY» FEAT: Rich Brown-Larnell Lewis Album Presentation „Forged in a cauldron of raging, inspiring contemporary jazz, the Jeremy Ledbetter Trio pushes the boundaries of jazz and world music, providing an undiluted display of rampaging energy and captivating musicianship. Audiences must exercise caution. People who see this band are rarely the same again. If the Jeremy Ledbetter Trio were an inanimate object it would be a runaway train.“ Canadian pianist Jeremy Ledbetter is a fiery, passionate performer whose music knows no boundaries. His compositions are wildly creative and deeply emotional. At Ledbetter’s hands, the piano roars, whispers, cries, and laughs, telling stories as only he can, evoking cinematic images in the listeners’ minds. The Jeremy Ledbetter Trio’s second album, “Gravity”, has taken the jazz world by storm, racking up a Juno Award (Canada’s top music prize) for Jazz Album of the Year, the title “Best in Canadian Jazz” from Jazz FM91, and over a million streams worldwide. “Gravity” sees Jeremy joined by Grammy-winning drummer Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy) and renowned electric bassist Rich Brown (Steve Coleman’s Five Elements), who offer the perfect counterpart to Ledbetter’s iconoclastic energy at the piano. Jeremy Ledbetter An engaging and fiery performer whose music knows no boundaries, Canadian pianist Jeremy Ledbetter has made a career from travelling the far-flung corners of the globe in search of the most fascinating and unique musical ideas out there, then seamlessly integrating them into his work as a pianist, composer, and producer. During his time living in Trinidad and Tobago, Jeremy became musical director to calypso icon David Rudder, a position he has now held for over two decades. His work in Venezuela brought him to the inner cirle of luminaries such as Aquiles Baez, Jorge Glem, and Eliana Cuevas. Jeremy has also recorded and performed with some of the brightest stars from Brasil (Hermeto Pascoal, Munir Hossn), Cuba, (OKAN, Daymé Arocena), and the USA (Andy Narell, Dennis Rollins). Jeremy approaches the music of other cultures with joy and curiosity, and the deepest respect. At the piano, Ledbetter’s playing features unrelenting energy and a playful spirit. Originally trained as a classical pianist, Jeremy studied jazz performance in Toronto before embarking on over a decade of world travel where he studied, played, and produced music all over Latin America and the Caribbean. Upon his return to Canada, Jeremy formed the Caribbean jazz ensemble CaneFire to play the original music inspired by his travels. CaneFire has quickly risen to international recognition on the strength of two albums – “Kaiso Blue” (2005) and “Pandemonium” (2010), and their performances at jazz festivals the world over. Today, Ledbetter features prominently in many of the brightest lights of Canada’s jazz and world music scenes. Jeremy is currently a regular performing member with: the Jeremy Ledbetter Trio, CaneFire, the Larnell Lewis Band, OKAN, Eliana Cuevas, David Rudder, the Joy Lapps Project, Rich Brown’s Abeng Quartet, the Elmer Ferrer Group, Schmaltz & Pepper, KC Roberts and the Live Revolution, Mark Kelso’s Jazz Exiles, Alexis Baró, and more. “Best in Canadian jazz 2024” JazzFM91 Toronto “One of the best piano trios of the early 21st century” Musica Terra, Japan “Jeremy Ledbetter is turning the world upside down with his new album Gravity” Music Frames, Netherlands “Has this Festival ever booked a better band? Probably not. We’ll remember it for the rest of our lives.” iHarstad, Norway “The country’s premiere contemporary music trio” A Guy We Know Jeremy Ledbetter – Piano Rich Brown – Bass Larnell Lewis – Drums
